What the Son Knows

Yesterday, early in the morning, I enjoyed one of the rarest things on earth: a moment of near-perfect peace.

The sun rose over the trees, lighted up the yard, and smiled into my cluttered little office.  I abandoned the keyboard, propped my feet up on the windowsill, and let the sunlight wash over my face. Time slipped away.

We know the Middle East is in turmoil, Wall Street’s nervous, and serious accidents will happen today. We admit that our government resembles a circus, full of clowns and wild hyenas.  But the sun knows the secrets of faithfulness. And we know the love that surpasses all understanding.

“In this world you will have trouble,” He tells us. “But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

When we let those little moments of joy, by God provided, speak to us, the things of the world grow strangely dim.
