If youβre looking for a great book to read, I heartily recommend The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles.
As my wife can tell you, I am picky with my fiction and have left many a novel unfinished. But this is a great one by any mark. In some ways, especially the variety and depth of his characters, Towles has surpassed the very high standard he set with his earlier novel, A Gentleman in Moscow. (Five stars on that one too!)
With incredible attention to the cultural detail and language of the 1950s, Towles takes us on a cross-country odyssey that puts some of his characters in a stolen Studebaker and others in a boxcar on an east-bound train. In addition to his main characters β Emmett, Billy, Duchess, and Woolly β youβll love the supporting cast of farmers, hobos, vaudevillians, tender-hearted housewives and New York punks that bring the story to life.
The pace is beautiful. Never hurried. Towles draws each character with affection and depth.

Listening to Lauren Daigle and her wonderful trio of back-up singers give new life to this song made my eyes water. Hereβs the video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6IbDIY8oUI
